Robert G. Locklin, 92 of East Haddam, CT passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Chestelm Health Care. He was surrounded by his loving family throughout his final weekend. Robert was born and raised in the Poconos, in Lakeville, PA. He was the son of the late Marie (Daniels) Locklin and the late Olin Locklin, who were also born and raised in Lakeville.
Robert was a sharpshooter and a MP in the Army and was a veteran of two foreign wars- World War II and Korea. After serving in World War II, he graduated from NYU with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He subsequently worked for the Curtiss-Wright Corporation in New Jersey for 19 years as an Aeronautical Engineer. He then worked another 19 years as a Naval Architect for Gibbs & Cox, Inc. in New York City. He and his wife Georgette were former residents of Upper Saddle River, NJ where they raised their two children and Whiting, NJ, where they retired. Robert was a fan of Lionel Trains and old movies, especially old war movies.
Robert is predeceased by the love of his life, Georgette (Howarth) Locklin who passed away on April 26, 2014. He is survived by a daughter, Allison (Locklin) Cappitella and her four children, Melissa, Kelly, Chris and Emily of East Haddam and a stepson Nick of Myrtle Beach, SC. Robert is also survived by his son Robert of Sanford, NC.
A private memorial service is planned for the future in Lakeville, PA, where Robert will be laid to rest with his wife and parents.
