FRANKLIN- Sidney L. Nute, Sr. died on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at W.W. Backus Hospital following a brief illness. Sid was born in Scarboro, Maine on June 5, 1943 to the late Everett and Velma (Tingly) Nute.
Sid grew up in Maine and moved to Connecticut with his wife Nancy where they raised their sons; he was a well decorated horseshoe enthusiast, traveling around the country playing in several championship tournaments. Sid had a love for life, he was always on the go whether he was tinkering on cars, bikes or dune buggies, throwing shoes, helping out a friend, playing with his “best friend” Penny or volunteering for the organizations he was involved in throughout the years, you would find him with a smile that was bigger than he was. He was a current member of the VFW and NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitching Association) he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Sid is survived by his wife Nancy Nute of Franklin; his sons Sidney “Larry” L. Nute Jr. and wife Michelle of Bozrah and Michael Nute and wife Lynn of Griswold; his sister Florence Nute-Sanborn of Maine, granddaughters, Megan Clark of Indiana, Taylor Nute, and Jordan Nute both of Bozrah and Savannah Nute of Griswold; grandson Zachary Nute of Moosup and his great-grandsons Connor and Colin Clark of Indiana.
